About Us

"It considers the armchair an excellent snoozing spot, has been known to hog the bed and will eat as much as a horse if given the chance. No, it's not a husband, it's a Dogue De Bordeaux- a huge breed with a heart as sweet as a home baked apple pie"

I live in a little town on the North West Coast of Tasmania called Smithton with my Fiance, Beaker and my Dogues, Koda and Jaque.

I first saw the Dogue on the famous movie "Turner and Hooch", and to be honest.. I didn't think he was that pretty (at the time, I was only young and wanted a husky), but as I got older I ended up buying a Bull Mastiff and I fell in love with the temperament of such a big dog, and haven't looked back.

Many years later I  read about the Dogue De Bordeaux breed in a dog magazine and was in awe with what I read about them, I had to have one!

I couldn't afford one at the time  but I  knew one day I would own one, and that day came in November 2004.

I had saved enough money and started looking through the web sites until I found the Dogue and breeder I was looking for.

Koda's breeder was so helpful and nice, I had to have one of her Dogues and I picked out Koda from a tribe of ten through some pictures.

Since owning Koda I have found her extremely easy to train (when done the right way through the good reward system) and a definite pleasure to own. She has basically been with me ever since I picked her up from the airport when she was 8 weeks old. The longest we have been parted was for 3 weeks one year when I went to QLD for a holiday, and for 5 days each other year when I go out on a boat game fishing.

She has a great temperament, especially with kids. As I don't have any of my own, she has not been around them a lot, but when a child comes up to her she is always happy to see them and is very gentle and careful with them (puppies as well).  She has been a great guard dog, she is not aggressive in any way, she just barks her deep threatening bark when there are people she doesn't know in our yard, to alert us of their presence.

Koda has been hip and elbow scored with good results, an International grade B and Australian grade 1.

My second Dogue is Jaque.

He came to live with us at 6 months old, and he is a real treasure.

He  is the biggest softie of a dog I have ever owned and you can't help but love him. He likes to be included in everything and has to be first in everything too. Poor Koda gets pushed out of the way most of the time....lucky I've got 2 hands!!

Jaque has been shown very successfully, winning multible in groups and many best of breed. He really is the show pony of the family, he prances around the ring with such character, everyone can see he is enjoying himself.

Jaque is also a great guard dog, he alerts us of any visitors with a bark and although he also is not aggressive, he doesn't warm to strangers as quickly as what Koda does.

Jaque has also been hip scored.

Both my Dogues live inside. They have their own couch, beanbags, and pet cushions.
